senior home care If you are married and your spouse is in need of senior home care, or you have an elderly parent that is in need of support, there are several options that you should consider when hiring a nurse or caregiver to help in your home. Think about what level of care and assistance you or your loved one will need and then you can contact a senior home care agency or specialist to help you find the right person for your family. You reserve the right to interview the staff that you are hiring to either live-in for home care or to come to your residence on a regular basis. When hiring someone for senior home care, you will either want to hire a full registered nurse, or a caregiver that is certified in emergency medical treatments such as CPR. Caregivers will be less expensive and usually have less schooling than a nurse or nurse’s aid. If you are only in need of someone to help with bathing, meals and grooming, a caregiver might be enough for you or your loved one. Be sure to get references from the senior home care agency that you are hiring from, and don’t be afraid to fire a caregiver if they are not working out for your family. There are some home care aids that will actually live-in your home, if provided with free room and board or pay is negotiated. Be sure to spend lots of time around your caregiver to see how they are treating your family member and make sure that your disabled or elderly family member is happy with the selection of caregiver.
